| Drilling for and producing gas
creates noise, uses lots of water, generates toxic waste, and emits
known carcinogens. Of those, the city regulates only noise. (Picture courtesy of durangotexas.com) |
Dramatic increase in truck
traffic will damage roads and increase emissions. Fort Worth does not
have a clear method to establish blame and to assess costs of road
damage leaving the repair costs up to taxpayers. (Picture courtesy of FWCanDo) |
Pipelines carry their own risks
as demonstrated by this explosion in 2005. As
pipelines age they fail. Should they be in residential neighborhoods?
